Udupi Chitranna Recipe

Ingredients For Udupi Chitranna Recipe 

for masala paste:

  • ½ cup coconut grated
  • ½ tsp mustard
  • 2 dried Kashmiri red chili
  • ¼ tsp turmeric / haldi

other ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tsp mustard
  • ½ tsp urad dal
  •  dried Kashmiri red chilli
  • few curry leaves
  • 2 tbsp peanuts
  • 2 tbsp tamarind extract
  • ½ tsp jaggery 
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 cup cooked rice

Procedure For Udupi Chitranna Recipe 

  1. Firstly in a blender take ½ cup coconut, ½ tsp mustard, 2 dried Kashmiri red chili and ¼ tsp turmeric.
  2. Blend to a coarse paste without adding any water.
  3. Now heat kadai with 1 tbsp of coconut oil.
  4. Add 1 tsp mustard, ½ tsp urad dal, 1 dried red chili, few curry leaves and 2 tbsp peanuts.
  5. Saute and splutter on medium flame.
  6. Further, add 2 tbsp tamarind extract, ½ tsp jaggery, and ½ tsp salt. cook well.

  7. Now add the prepared masala paste and saute for 2 minutes

  8. Further, add 3 cups cooked rice and mix gently.
  9. Finally, serve Udupi Chitranna / masala Chitranna hot or pack to your lunch box.
